Norfolk Family YMCA to lead Rock Steady Boxing to the Walk the State Virtual Event

August 22, 2020

We are thrilled to announce that Tina and Sam from the Norfolk Family YMCA will be leading a Rock Steady Boxing movement break during the Walk the State Virtual Event!

Rock Steady Boxing, a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization, gives people with Parkinson’s disease hope by improving their quality of life through a non-contact boxing based fitness curriculum.

The exercises are largely adapted from boxing drills. Boxers condition for optimal agility, speed, muscular endurance, accuracy, hand-eye coordination, footwork and overall strength to defend against and overcome opponents.

The Norfolk Family YMCA started the Rock Steady Boxing classes in the spring of 2018. Since then, the class has grown and is a staple in the Norfolk Parkinson’s community. Check out these articles about the class from the Norfolk Daily News and WGAJ, including this update.

We are so grateful to have such a great program serving the Norfolk area! Register for the Walk the State Virtual Event to join Tina and Sam!
