COVID 19 Update: This time of social distancing does not have to mean social isolation. We have compiled a list of online support groups and discussion boards from our national and local partners for easy access in one, easy to find place. These programs can help keep you engaged and connected with the community from right inside your home.

Care Partner Support Groups

Caregiver Forum 

This will be a online meeting designed to provide support for caregivers who may not have access to their usual support systems right now due to COVID-19.   If you provide care to a Person with Parkinson’s, please join us!

       Date: Wednesdays
       Time: 2:00 pm- 3:00 pm

Parkinson’s Caregivers Support Group

The Parkinson’s caregiver support group meets once a month to provide support to those caring for people with Parkinson’s disease. 

Date: First Monday of each month
Time: 7:00 pm

Smart Patients Caregivers Community

The Family Caregiver Alliance has partnered with Smart Patients to create the Smart Patients Caregivers Community. This online community is a discussion board for patients and caregivers to share interact, and learn from each other in a safe, supportive environment. 

When you join a discussion group, you’ll connect with other people who share your same interests, challenges, and hopes with a variety of topics. This offers an alternative to in-person support groups!

The Parkinson’s Foundation is hosting a quarterly Care Partner Town Hall. The Town Hall format will cover some of the Parkinson’s Foundation Helpline frequently asked questions in a one-hour program.

Wednesday, August 26 12:00 pm – Strategies for Effective Communication 

This series kick-off will focus on strategies to help care partners, friends, and family effectively connect and communicate with their loved one with Parkinson’s disease.

Wednesday, August 19 1:00 pm – A Crash Course for Care partners: How to help People Receiving LSVT BIG and LOUD

Do you help support and care for someone who is receiving LSVT LOUD or LSVT BIG? You can be a key part of optimizing their success. Learn our top tips on how to help support daily exercise practice, homework and carryover of a louder voice and bigger movements into daily life. Also hear ideas of how to motivate and encourage, as well as what NOT to do!
